Birthright of Georgetown
of Matching Funds Remaining
The volunteers at Birthright of Georgetown mentor women and girls as they face the difficulties of pregnancy and new motherhood. It is our goal to take our clients from dependency to independence by helping them explore their options for education and employment. One of the most essential needs of our clients is diapers. Our 2018 projected expense for diapers and baby wipes is $40,000. We encourage new mothers to continue their education or employment. At the end of 2017, we had 36 adults and 18 teens enrolled in various school programs from GED to college courses. We help fund assistance for education fees for disadvantaged new mothers.
The mission of Birthright of Georgetown is to assist women and girls facing unplanned pregnancy. The Birthright center in Georgetown, SC has become a true outreach center providing counseling, mentoring, education assistance, diapers and other material help, as well as referrals for community resources to women in Georgetown County at a time of uncertainty. A key element of support is the friendship extended by the women volunteers, who follow the clients through pregnancy and after birth. The center also offers free pregnancy tests, prenatal information, and referrals on medical help, financial assistance, parenting skills, legal help, adoption information and continuing education.
